PhD Student Opportunity
Interested in doing a PhD? Applications close on the 16th February 2026.
We are welcoming applications for a full-time PhD scholarship at the University of Southampton.
This PhD project builds on a newly funded NIHR pharmacological study aiming at predicting response to methylphenidate (the most common medication for ADHD), based on children’s clinical, cognitive, and physiological characteristics. Ultimately, this will help tailor treatment options and thus improve patients’ outcomes.
Entry requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (at least a 2.1 or international equivalent) in Psychology, Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacology, or related fields. Having already completed a Master’s degree is welcome. Previous experience in quantitative research (e.g. in recruiting and testing research participants as part of prior studies or research assistant post) is highly desirable. Prior knowledge of the UK NHS is advantageous. Excellent organisation skills, diligence, and teamworking are highly desirable.
